Grandmother dead, grandson wounded inside Levittown home
Kristin Thorne has the details on the Levittown homicide.

LEVITTOWN, Long Island (WABC) -- An elderly woman is dead and her grandson injured after an assault inside a home in Levittown.

It happened on North Newbridge Road around 1:50 p.m. Wednesday.

Police say they responded after they got a call about an assault at the home. It is not yet clear who called police.

Once inside the home, police say they found a 24-year-old man with cuts to his forearms. They then discovered the young man's 83-year-old grandmother in another room of the house with cuts to her torso.

She was pronounced dead. Her grandson was taken to an area hospital where he is in serious condition.

Nassau County police officials said that they were also investigating at another home nearby where they were questioning a person-of-interest.

Officers at the scene were also spotted examining a vehicle in the driveway.

The identities of the victims have not yet been released.
