It's an ad that requires you to go outside to read it. We put it to the test

NEW YORK CITY, NY (WABC) -- Summer may be over, but retailer L.L. Bean wants you go outside. The company is upping its game to get you outdoors in a new ad in the New York Times.

In a Facebook post, the company says it used a photochromic ink in its latest that can only be seen once exposed to U.V. light. The ad tells the reader to, "Just bring this outside."

We decided to try it out to see if it really worked and it did. The ad tells shoppers, "Just step outside your front door and you've arrived."

L.L. Bean is positioning itself as an outdoor brand focused less on individual pursuits and more on family and friends enjoying the outdoors, whether it's a remote lake or local park.
