BULLS HEAD, Staten Island (WABC) -- Two teenage boys were killed in a single car crash on Staten Island Monday night.

Police say the Ford Fusion was traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on Richmond Avenue in the Bulls Head section.

They were near the intersection on Signs Road when the driver lost control and crashed into a parked pick-up truck and a pole before careening into a construction site.

"They were still in the car, and the ambulance came pretty quick, police officers, fire department," witness Frank Lamorte said. "It was like a mad scene out here."

The teens were taken to Richmond University Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

They were identified as 17-year-old Sebastian Serrano and 19-year-old Daniel Castellano, who had just graduated from Army boot camp this past summer.

Now, family and friends are struggling to understand what happened.

"I watched them grow," family friend Keryl McBean said. "His soul is here. His soul is in my heart, too, and his family's heart."

A small memorial now sits at the scene of the crash.
