Timelapse: Amazing sunset in New York City
Watch a timelapse video shot from Brooklyn showing an amazing sunset over New York City.

NEW YORK (WABC) -- The New York City region was treated to a beautiful and brilliant post-storm sunset Tuesday evening.

The sunset time was 5:02 p.m., and that's when the sky lit up in a fiery deep red. It came as a delightful end to an otherwise dreary and rainy day.

Eyewitness News was rolling on our camera in Brooklyn (looking west just to the south of Lower Manhattan) and captured the magnificent sight. Watch a timelapse we created in the video player above.

Social media also lit up with plenty of photos of the on-fire sky. Check out some of our favorites below.

Here's a stunning view of One World Trade Center with the sunset's colors behind it:

And we can't forget about the Empire State Building:

Here's the view from the Kips Bay area in Manhattan:

Astoria, Queens, perhaps had the best look at Manhattan from afar:

Here's another look at the full skyline from a different vantage point:

The colors were just as amzing from the West Village:

Take a look at the clouds, as seen from New Jersey:
