Mom pushing stroller mugged in Central Park; 3 in custody

UPPER WEST SIDE, Manhattan (WABC) -- Three suspects have been charged after a woman pushing a child in a stroller was shoved to the ground and mugged by a two men and a girl in Central Park Wednesday afternoon.

Two 19-year-olds men are charged with robbery, and one of them also faces a resisting arrest charge. A 14-year-old girl is charged with robbery.

Authorities said the victim was followed from the Central Park transverse to West 86th street, where she was pushed from behind just after 12:45 p.m.

The suspects grabbed her purse and fled the scene, and the woman quickly gave a description to police, according to the New York City Police Department. Officers in a police cruiser saw two of the suspects at West 85th Street and Columbus Avenue and quickly took them into a custody.

They say when the third suspect was spotted, he ran into a building on West 83rd street. Officers reportedly chased him up 17 stories and found him on the roof, where he was taken into custody.

The victim, in her 20s, and her infant were not harmed.
