CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. (WABC) -- There was a mournful goodbye Friday to a girl whose death is perplexing investigators in Westchester County.

Friends and family gathered to bid a final farewell to 6-year-old Lacey Carr, who was found unresponsive in house in Croton-on-Hudson on Easter Sunday.

She was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Her mother, Kathleen Dymes, was also unconscious in the building, and she remains in critical condition.

Police have ruled out carbon monoxide as a cause of death, but officials have not released an explanation for the death.

The girl's father, Dymes' boyfriend David Carr, found the found the two around 1 p.m.

"We are waiting for an autopsy report to be done and at this point they probably will do toxicology and that takes a lot longer, so we may not have any results for a while," said Det. Sgt. John Nikitopoulous, of the Croton-on-Hudson Police Department.

Dymes is a nurse who was planning to move in with Carr.

"The Dymes' family is a large extended family that's been in Croton for many generations and this is clearly a tragedy for the entire extended family both the Dymes and the Carr family," Croton-on-Hudson Mayor Leo Wiegman said.

Donald Divney, who's known the family for decades, said the little girl played in the neighborhood daily.

"They're a very well-known family in Croton," neighbor Donald Diveny said. "So outgoing and likable, I mean you just could love her, just a sad thing."
