NEWARK, N.J. (WABC) -- Police have determined that a suspicious item at Newark airport is electronic and not dangerous.

The evacuation of Terminal C is over and airport screening has resumed.

The device was likely consumer parts, officials said.

The bag with the device inside was sitting on a wheelchair, before the screening area at Terminal C. It was near the Air Train entrance and C2 checkpoint.

A K-9 team responded and deemed the bag suspicious. The terminal was evacuated briefly, according to Port Authority.

The Essex County Bomb Squad was notified and responded.

United says that flights to Newark were held at their departure cities during the investigation but service has resumed with delays.
