WEST ORANGE, N.J. (WABC) -- Police in West Orange have arrested a suspect in last week's armed robbery and shooting at a local gas station.

It happened Monday at a Delta station on Park Avenue. Surveillance footage taken by the station's video camera observed a man wearing a ski mask approaching the attendant at the pay station.

When the attendant attempted to resist the attacker, he was shot and the assailant fled the scene.

Police say their investigation found that Kashif Harris, 21, of Newark, who had been arrested in Irvington two days later on an unrelated armed robbery charge, was also the suspect wanted in the Delta station incident.

Harris is charged with robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon and aggravated assault. He remains in Essex County jail with bail set at $400,000.

Surveillance cameras captured the incident on video, which helped authorities identify and apprehend the suspect.

The 56-year-old clerk was shot once in the groin. He was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery and is expected to make a full recovery.
