Bayport burglary victim chases, helps police ID suspects

Police on Long Island say the four men who beat and burglarized a man in his home Tuesday were arrested about 30 minutes after the incident.

The victim is getting part of the credit after he attempted to follow the fleeing suspects and gave police a description of their getaway car.

The incident happened on Bayview Avenue in Bayport around 12:30 p.m.

Police say two of the suspects confronted the victim inside his home and then assaulted him before stealing cash and jewelry.

Officers spotted the car just before 1 p.m. and initiated a traffic stop.

Eighteen-year-old Ramone Beauford, of Bayport; 20-year-old Osman Flores, of Central Islip; and 17-year-old Javier Gonzalez and 19-year-old Nelson Vanegas, both of Brentwood, were taken into custody and charged with first-degree burglary.
