Body found in abandoned house on Long Island after fire

WYANDANCH, Long Island (WABC) -- A body was found in a house fire on Long Island early Saturday morning.

According to the Suffolk County Police Department, around 2 a.m. officers responded to a boarded-up residence on Irving Avenue in Wyandanch after a 911 call about a fire.

The Wyandanch Fire Department put out the fire and a body was found inside the home.

The county medical examiner will determine the identity and cause of death.

Police said the fire does not appear to be criminal.

The investigation is continuing.
