Bronx deli worker strikes back, fights off armed robbers

BAYCHESTER, Bronx (WABC) -- A Bronx deli worker was behind the counter when two armed, masked men entered, and demanded cash. But the worker struck back.

Ahmed Hussin was back behind the cash register Sunday night after looking down the wrong side of a pistol during an armed robbery.

The crime happened late Thursday night when two masked men entered the convenience store by a gas station on Gun Hill Road in Baychester. Eyewitness News is told the suspects demanded cash, but instead of handing over the bills, and Hussin tried to slap away the weapon. The weapon then discharged, sending a bullet into the pastries on the counter.

The robbers then ran away without any cash, but they did leave behind a lot of fear, and one worker who is grateful to be alive.

Police are still looking for them two suspects, and although they covered their faces, Eyewitness News is told they may have left fingerprints behind.
