NYPD finds abducted 2 year old . mother's ex-boyfriend in custody

BRONX, N.Y. (WABC) -- A 2-year-old girl is back with her mother, after her mother's ex-boyfriend took her without permission, police said.

It happened on Haviland Avenue in the Parkchester section of the Bronx around 8:30 p.m.

The child was taken around 8:30 p.m. Monday and found around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday. The girl was taken to Montefiore Medical Center to be checked out.

The girl's mother apparently had a fight with her ex-boyfriend outside her home. The mother said that's when he picked up the girl, put her in his car and took off.

Sources tell Eyewitness News that while looking for the child, police had the man on the phone and were trying to track him using cell tower information.

Charges against the ex-boyfriend, who is not the child's father, are pending.
