Charges Dropped Against Olympic Skier Picabo Street

The state of Utah has filed a motion to dismiss all charges against Olympic gold medal-winning skier Picabo Street, relating to an incident with her father last December in Park City, ABC News has exclusively confirmed.

Street, 44, had been charged with misdemeanor counts of domestic abuse and assault.

Street's attorney, Joe Wrona, said the judge is expected to grant the motion in the coming days.

"When I called the police for help with my Dad last December, I expected the police to be my knights in shining armor," Street said in a statement. "Instead, they came into my house, arrested me, and put me in handcuffs when I did nothing wrong. The next thing I knew, an embarrassing photograph of me that had been taken at the local jail was circulating on the Internet. That's no way to treat a nice girl!"

"Thank goodness I was able to find Joe Wrona to defend me," she continued. "From the day he got involved, Joe made me feel like a champion again. I couldn't have asked for a better lawyer."

Wrona added in a statement that the government "simply has no evidence to support their charges."

he added, "People need to know that Picabo is a caring mother of three wonderful children and she has also been taking care of her own parents in the twilight years of their lives. It was Picabo who called 911 when her elderly father became unruly this past December, and she did so because she needed help."
