FAIRFIELD, CT (WABC) -- A 17-year-old Connecticut girl was struck by a car on her way to Ludlow High School on Friday morning around 7:30 a.m.

She had to enter the street between two cars because of unplowed sidewalks on Mill Plain Road near Unquowa Road in Fairfield.

When she stepped out into the street from between the cars, she was struck.

The homeowner will be getting a $99 fine for failure to remove snow 24 hrs after storm.

The public works cleared the snow and will be billing her.

The victim was taken to Bridgeport Hospital, where she underwent surgery for a broken hip.
