EAST SIDE (WABC) -- A second-alarm fire burn through several structures on the East Side of Manhattan late Friday morning.
Firefighters were on the scene on Second Avenue near East 35th Street, where the fire broke out in the rear of the Ginza Sushi restaurant just after 11 a.m.
The fire spread to an adjacent building.
No one was seriously hurt, but three firefighters suffered minor injuries.
The fire was quickly brought under control, but responders were lingering because of the building's close proximity to its neighbors in the middle of the block.
Second Avenue was closed in the vicinity for the police and FDNY activity, creating challenges for drivers headed to the Queens Midtown Tunnel and even across town at the Lincoln Tunnel. Bumper-to-bumper conditions were reported nearby.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
