PISCATAWAY, N.J. (WABC) -- Firefighters battled an early morning fire that engulfed a popular meat market in New Jersey Tuesday.

The fire started at about 3 a.m. at the market on West 7th Street in Piscataway.

The blaze escalated to two alarms.

There are no reports of any injuries, but many of the streets around the fire scene were shut down.

Eyewitnesses say the market, "Meat City," could be a total loss.

The roof completely caved in, and there is extensive damage from the fire. The collapse is hampering access to the building, which will have to be demolished.
