Fort Lee dad accused of violently shaking, punching 5-month-old son

FORT LEE (WABC) -- Police have accused a Fort Lee man of shaking and punching his 5-month-old son after he brought the child to the hospital with severe injuries.

Yoseop Choi, 38, brought his son to Bellevue Hospital in New York City Tuesday suffering from cardiac arrest, the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office said in a press release. The baby reportedly had a severe head injury and a healing rib fracture. The child remains in critical condition at Bellevue, authorities said.

Authorities believe the child had been assaulted in Choi's Fort Lee apartment, and that Choi assaulted his son on multiple occasions over two months. Choi was arrested Wednesday and charged with aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child. He was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in lieu of bail.
