Gas prices in New Jersey continue to plunge, expected to go even lower

WOODBRIDGE (WABC) -- There is great news for drivers in New Jersey - gas prices in the Garden State keep plunging. In some places they are lower than $2.00.

This week marks the 9th straight week that prices dropped, and they're only expected to go lower.

"When we saw this, we decided to pull over and fill up," says Staten Island resident Joann Narbaez.

Dozens of drivers were doing the same thing as Narbaez at a Raceway in Perth Amboy with Petro prices under $2 if you pay cash.

"$1,97? That's a good deal, though," says Woodbridge resident Abe Varcas.

These prices are even lower than the state average at $2.32 a gallon. Those prices are also expected to drop even further according to Triple A, as crude oil prices keep sinking. This time last year, the national average for gas was $3.44 - that's a savings drivers can get excited about.
