PATERSON, N.J. -- A northern New Jersey doctor accused of fondling several female patients is now facing more charges.

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia Valdes announced Tuesday that John Strobeck has been indicted on five counts of criminal sexual contact. The 68-year-old cardiologist lives in Saddle River and has a practice in Hawthorne.

Strobeck had been accused of fondling two patients in an indictment handed up last April. But when that indictment was made public, prosecutors say three other women came forward with similar allegations.

If convicted on all five counts, Strobeck could face nearly eight years in prison.

Strobeck could not be reached at his Hawthorne office Tuesday night. It was not known if he has retained an attorney in the matter.
