Investigation underway after woman left topless in hallway during NYPD arrest
Sandra Bookman has the details.

BROWNSVILLE (WABC) -- Another NYPD arrest caught on cell phone video is under investigation. This time, a woman was left topless in hallway, while police took her family into custody.

48-year-old Denise Stewart was arrested by officers responding to a domestic disturbance at a Brownsville building on July 13th. The officers say Stewart's 12-year-old daughter told them her mother beat her with a belt.

Stewart answered the door wrapped in a towel. Police say the towel came off as she struggled with the officers. Stewart, her son and two daughters were all arrested on Assault and Obstruction charges.

Stewart's attorney, Amy Rameau released a statement on Saturday saying,

"Ms. Stewart is a respected member of her community and she committed absolutely no crime. These officers conducted themselves in a deplorable manner. They pepper sprayed her four year old grandson and a male officer punched her twelve year old daughter, the same twelve year old they claim they were there to protect. What these officers did exemplifies not only a disrespect for women in general but a disrespect for women of color in particular because of a general disrespect for communities of color. There has to be some remedy for this kind of police misconduct. These officers are discriminating against communities of color and they are doing it under color of law."
