Long Island man charged in bank robbery spree

KINGS PARK (WABC) -- A Long Island man accused in a brief but busy burst of bank robberies is now under arrest and facing charges.

Brian Blackford, of Kings Park, was arrested along with an accomplice after allegedly robbing a bank in Nesconset.

In just a two-week span, police say Blackford also hit banks in Deer Park, Commack, Farmingdale, Sayville and North Lindenhurst, robbing seven in total.

During the robberies, the suspect would allegedly pass a note demanding money from a teller and then flee the bank.

Utilizing video surveillance, as well as Crime Stoppers tips from the public, detectives identified the suspect as Blackford, who is charged with seven counts of third-degree robbery.
