LONG BEACH, N.Y. (WABC) -- Police on Long Island arrested a Long Beach man after a stray bullet grazed a little boy.

20-year old Obe Isaac faces attempted murder and other charges.

Police say he fired a gun during an argument with a man at the Channel Park housing complex Friday.

They say a bullet from Isaac's gun grazed of 4-year old Treyshawn Stephens.

The shooting occurred in the rear of Channel Park complex just before 1:30 p.m.

"Want to tell him what you were doing when it happened?" said Tremayne Stephens, the victim's father.

"I was playing football with my mom," said his son Treyshawn.

He should be able to play with his mom in the safety of his home, but 4-year-old Treyshawn Stephens was not safe there Friday.

"I heard the glass breaking on my back door," Tremayne said.

That breaking glass, was courtesy of a stray bullet that pierced their back door at the Channel Park housing complex after two men fought outside.

"Next thing you know he was bleeding," Tremayne said.

"At least one round went through the door of an apartment and either the round or debris from the round struck a small child," said Lt. Stefan Chernaski, of the Long Beach Police Department.

Police spent hours canvassing for clues and hunting for suspects.

In a public housing complex just a block from Long Beach's City Hall, but where neighbors say they are sick of violence.

Felix Silva's son is Treshawn's best friend.

"I mean it's pretty sad that you know I can't go to work without worrying about my children every day, all these things are going on here shooting and stuff," Silva said.

Only Eyewitness News was there when Treshawn's dad brought him home from the hospital, to the cheers of their neighbors.

His injury was superficial, but it could have been so much worse.

"Thank God it didn't hit him in, you know, a couple inches up higher it could have been something else," Tremayne said.

The investigation is ongoing.
