WALLKILL (WABC) -- Police has arrested a man after a woman approached a worker at a gas station in Orange County for help.

Surveillance cameras captured the woman along with a man at a station Monday on Bloomingburg Road in Wallkill.

The woman reportedly told the clerk she needed help, but when he tried to intervene, the man told him that she was drunk and to mind his own business.

It happened just after midnight at a Mobile station, a seemingly normal transaction at a gas station convenience store.

The man is seen on camera came in to get drinks from the refrigerated case in back, but outside a woman gets tried to get the attention of the clerk.

Her words were chilling.

"She was outside the window, so she probably was asking him, 'I'm begin (held) hostage by that dude that's inside the store,'" employee Nathan Patel said.

The day shift worker at the store says his nighttime counterpart tried to intervene, but was unsuccessful.

"He finished the transaction, so he could go outside and help," Patel said. "But then he went outside with that dude, like what are you doing to her? He said, 'Mind your own business. She's drunk.' And that's it. He came back, and they took off."

Police were investigating it as a possible abduction, and they identified both individuals. Authorities say the woman, described as being in her 20s with light brown hair and wearing a black and white shirt, had some sort of relationship with the man and had an order of protection against him.

He was arrested and is being held on an outstanding warrant. The woman was found safe at her home and was being interviewed by police. New charges, possibly kidnapping, could be filed.
