SMITHTOWN, N.Y. (WABC) -- Suffolk County police are looking for a man who was caught on camera stealing money from a Smithtown church in October.

The incident happened back on October 10, when authorities say a man entered St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church on East Main Street and sat in a pew for an hour before he used tools to pry open a donation box.

He fled with no more than $200, police said, and the entire episode was captured on the church's video surveillance system.

Parishioners say it's an outrage, and residents agree the man needs to be caught.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
