Man found dead on Maplewood street; possible hit and run victim

MAPLEWOOD, New Jersey (WABC) -- Authorities are investigating after a man was found dead on a street in New Jersey, Monday morning.

The body was found on Wyoming Avenue in Maplewood around 4 a.m.

The man, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. There is no word yet on the cause of death.

Authorities were investigating the possibility that he was the victim of a hit and run, and Maplewood police issued an advisory at 6 a.m. that the area near the intersection of Wyoming Avenue and Hickory Drive would be closed until further notice. Authorities said it was also possible the body was dumped at the location.
