IRVINGTON, New Jersey (WABC) -- A man led police on a wild chase after he stole a tractor trailer cab in New Jersey on Saturday.

Police say 38-year-old Charles Lee stole the cab on Doremus Avenue and Wilson Avenue. The chase went into Union, and then down Route 22, back into Newark.

The cab struck two police cars as officers attempted to pull it over. One police officer was taken to University Hospital with minor injuries.

"He hit the corner. He got in the middle of the street, he stopped. The door flew open, he was going to jump out. When the police saw that, they got out. He stalled, jumped back in and started riding to that corner," said eyewitness Tamika Middleton, "The door flew open again. An officer jumped out his car, and jumped in the moving tractor trailer, got in with him and got the car to stop and stall. They must have hit him in the head or whatever. They pulled him out the truck, and threw him in the police car."

Lee was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, possession of a weapon, and a host of motor vehicle summonses. Other charges are pending.
