STATEN ISLAND (WABC) -- A 18-year-old man was arrested in the stabbing of a man aboard a bus on Staten Island last week.
Franklin Bethea was charged with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
He is accused of stabbing a 24-year-old victim on the S74 bus Oct. 13 in the stomach, left armpit and hip, lacerating his liver and an artery.
The victim was arguing with a woman in the back of the bus over who should get a seat, and the woman slapped him. He raised his hand to protect himself, and a man accompanying the woman stabbed the victim in the chest and hand.
It happened near the intersection of Broad and Canal streets in the Stapleton section.
The victim was taken to Richmond University Medical Center in West Brighton, where he is expected to survive.
