Man survives crash after Good Samaritan helps him from burning vehicle

NEW CITY (WABC) -- A man survived a fiery crash in Rockland County after a Good Samaritan helped him from a burning vehicle.

Police say the man was driving in the wrong direction on Route 304 in New City when he lost control of the vehicle. The car caught fire after crashing into a fence and a tree.

A man who lives in the area says the driver was banging on the window to escape.

The driver was dragged away from the burning car and taken to the hospital by paramedics.

His name and condition have not yet been released.
