BEDFORD PARK, Bronx (WABC) -- A memorial service is being held Monday for a Bronx deli worker who was shot and killed by a man who stole a police officer's gun.

Friends and relatives will pay tribute to 49-year-old Wali Camara at the Islamic Cultural Center on 166th Street in the Bronx.

After the service, Camara's body will be shipped back to his native country, Mali.

Camara was shot while warning another store about a problematic customer.

Police say that man, Efrain Guzman, grabbed an officer's gun and fatally shot Camara.

A vigil was held last week outside the deli in the Bedford Park section, as relatives demanded answers as to how the suspect was allegedly able to grab the officer's gun.

The NYPD has not taken any disciplinary action against the officer whose gun was snatched.
