Missing swimmer in Far Rockaway

FAR ROCKAWAY (WABC) -- A man went missing after going for a swim in the waters off Far Rockaway, Queens, Sunday night.

The man walked into the surf at Beach Ninth St. at the eastern end of the Rockaway Boardwalk at around 10:23 p.m., police said.

The man disappeared, and his girlfriend reported him missing.

The NYPD's harbor unit, FDNY divers and the Coast Guard searched near the Atlantic Beach Bridge, but did not find him.
