PORT MORRIS, Bronx (WABC) -- Police are investigating after the body of a 55-year-old Brooklyn woman was discovered in her ex-husband's Bronx workplace Thursday morning.

Djamila Requieghmuda, from Bay Ridge, was reported missing by her daughter Wednesday when she did not return home.

The daughter started pinging her mother's cell phone, which led detectives to the fourth-floor office on the corner of East 136th Street and Willow Avenue in Port Morris.

Authorities say a worker found the body just after 4 a.m. Additionally, the NYPD received 911 calls from the building reporting a woman's screams.

Word spread quickly through the six-story commercial building, which is filled with small businesses.

"It's kind of upsetting," said Helena Roben, a worker in the building. "We all know each other here. I don't know her though."

Police say Requieghmuda was found lying face down with a blanket over her, and she appeared to have sustained trauma to her head.

The business in which the body was found has not been released, but those who work on the property were surprised to hear of her death.

"I am scared myself, because it happened in the building where I work," Chiru Bhatia said.

Investigators have not found a history of violence between the two before they split, but detectives are still combing through their past.

The medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine a cause of death.

Detectives are investigating the death as suspicious and are gathering video from inside the building.
