N.J. Burkett reports a Bronx father is charged with murder in the death of his 2-month-old son.

MORRIS PARK, Bronx (WABC) -- Police arrested on Monday the mother of a Bronx 2-month-old in connection with his murder.

Danielle Whyte, 31, of the Bronx, has been charged with manslaughter in the death of Mason Whyte.

In December, Jose Feliciano, 51, of the Bronx, was arrested in Mason's death. Feliciano faces second-degree murder charges in the death of the boy.

Police said the murder happened in the apartment on Bogart Avenue in Morris Park. On Dec. 10, Feliciano became angry at the baby's crying inside the apartment and suffocated him in his room, authorities said.

Whyte said at the time that she splashed water on the child's face to revive him, but it was too late. Whyte also said Feliciano threatened to kill her if she called police.

Feliciano put the baby in a plastic bag and put the bag in a larger bag, according to investigators. Surveillance video recovered from the apartment building showed Feliciano leaving with a bag at around 11 p.m. on Dec 10, police said.

The infant's body was discovered in a wooded area in Dutchess County, near a Dover Motel. Police said Feliciano buried the body near Kitchen Corner Road and Route 22, with Whyte's help on Dec 12.

Feliciano was charged after police said he made statements to detectives implicating himself in the death.

Whyte is a city public school teacher.
