Mom of murdered Fresno boy admits she left son to go buy meth
The mother of a murdered Fresno toddler said she left her son with her boyfriend so she could run some errands, including getting drugs.

FRESNO, Calif. -- The mother of a murdered Fresno toddler said she left her son with her boyfriend so she could run some errands, including getting drugs.

Syre Bridges was beaten to death in November 2011 and Xavier Hawkins is now on trial for the murder.

Emiley Bridges testified that she left the apartment in the morning and went to Walmart. She bought some food and withdrew $100.00 on her welfare debit card. Bridges admitted she was going to use some of that money to buy meth.

The defense is trying to show it's possible Hawkins didn't cause the deadly injuries to the boy. Emiley Bridges' Walmart purchase came about an hour before Hawkins called 9-1-1.
