New video released in apparent bias attack in Soundview, Bronx

SOUNDVIEW, Bronx (WABC) -- New video of suspects has been released after a man was stabbed in the Bronx while his attackers allegedly used anti-gay slurs.

Surveillance cameras captured the two men, one of whom is suspected of the stabbing.

Marquis Devereaux was walking at Sunset Boulevard and Neptune Lane around 3:30 a.m. Sunday when two men approached him.

According to the NYPD, the two suspects yelled anti-gay slurs at Devereaux before one of them stabbed him on his left arm with a sharp object, a wound that required eight stitches to close.

The victim was taken to Montefiore Westchester Square Campus with a cut. He was stable.

The first individual is described as a male, black or Hispanic, last seen wearing a light colored tank top and light colored pants.

The second individual is a male, black or Hispanic, last seen wearing a hooded sweater and shorts.

Devereaux was also attacked in 2009, by the superintendent of his Queens apartment building. He was slashed the leg with a kitchen knife, while mocking the attacker sexuality.

His assailant was convicted of a bias crime and was sentenced to three and half years in prison.

But on Sunday's attack, Devereaux says the recent tragedies in Orlando and Dallas forced him into an ugly place, and forced him to question if anyone would care.

There have been no arrests made in this case. The NYPD is investigating this case as a hate crime.
