Ridgefield Park gas station attendant robbed, shot; Suspect on the loose

RIDGEFIELD PARK (WABC) -- Police in New Jersey are searching for a robbery suspect who shot and wounded a gas station attendant late Monday.

The incident happened at a Delta station on Route 46 and Main Street in Ridgefield Park around 10:30 p.m.

The suspect made off with hundreds of dollars, and the clerk, who was shot in the stomach, underwent emergency surgery at Hackensack Medical Center. Luckily for him, the ambulance squad is located directly next door.

The victim is now recovering at the hospital, while authorities have launched a massive manhunt.

The shooting drew police from several towns. Officials are not commenting on the robbery or the condition of the victim at this time.
