NYC to eliminate court for turnstile jumping
Turnstile-jumping will no longer be prosecuted in New York City beginning this fall

NEW YORK (WABC) -- Turnstile-jumping will no longer be prosecuted in New York City beginning this fall.

The District Attorney's Office announced the city is working to eliminate the number of turnstile cases bogging down the court system.

Under the new effort, first-time offenders will be issued a summons that will be handled through the MTA.

Repeat offenders will get a desk appearance ticket and a chance to complete a diversion program before going to court.
