NYPD: Man broke into bathroom, tried to rape showering Staten Island woman

STATEN ISLAND (WABC) -- Police on Staten Island are searching for a man they say broke into a woman's bathroom while she was showering and tried to rape her.

The attack happened Tuesday night near Ebbitts Street and Hett Avenue.

Police say Miguel Felipe, 30, who also goes by "Tino" or "Constantino" groped the woman, threw her to the ground and tried to choke her.

The 22-year-old victim told police she convinced him to let her walk out of the bathroom and into the hallway.

Police say that's when she escaped and ran to get help in the street from passersby.

The suspect is described as 5'4" and 150 lbs.
