NEW YORK
The old Kosciuszko Bridge is now on its way to a New Jersey recycling plant.
The main span of the bridge was lowered onto a pair of barges that moved through the Newtown Creek to the East River on Wednesday. The slow process started on Tuesday.
The 26 million pounds of steel will now be transported to New Jersey for recycling. This is all part of an $873 million project to replace the bridge with two new bridges.
