FORT LEE, N.J. -- A real-life Bambi was rescued by officers early Thursday in Fort Lee.

The baby deer had been there about 3 days according to local gas station employees. An adult deer had been struck and killed near where the baby deer was found several days ago and may have been the deer's mother.

The officers offered the deer food and water and later brought the deer to Antler Ridge Wildlife Sanctuary. Eventually, the deer will be returned the wild when it can survive on its own.
