NEW YORK (WABC) -- A taxi crashed into a York Avenue hardware store Saturday morning after the driver apparently lost control.

According to the New York City Police Department, around 10:30 a.m. a cab was southbound on York Avenue when it jumped a curb near 78th Street and crashed into the glass window of hardware store Basics Plus. The cab did not go into the store, which is at 1485 York Ave.

The driver and two pedestrians were taken to New York Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

The cause of the accident is under investigation. An eyewitness at the scene said the driver appeared to suffer some sort of medical episode before he lost control.
