NEW YORK -- Officials said a man is hospitalized in stable condition after being stabbed near Times Square.
The stabbing took place after an altercation in front of the single-room occupancy Aladdin Hotel on West 45th Street at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, about a block from the Hirschfeld Theater.
Police said the suspect used a box cutter to attack the victim; the two men did not know each other.
The attacker fled the scene to a nearby bar but was arrested a few hours later.
Police identified him as Cory McGee of Manhattan. They charged him with assault, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a controlled substance, which police identified as crack.
It wasn't immediately clear if McGee had a lawyer.
