Police looking for suspect in rape, robbery of woman in Bronx stairwell

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Bronx (WABC) -- Police have released surveillance video as they look for a suspect in the rape of a woman in a Bronx apartment building.

Investigators said a man followed a woman into a building on East 183rd Street in University Heights Friday night.

The man raped the woman in the elevator, stole cash and two cell phones, and then continued sexually assaulting her in a stairwell, according to police.

The victim was treated at the hospital.

The suspect ran off after the attack.

Police say the suspect is around 18 years old and was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt.
