Police: Man, 18, dies after triple stabbing in Staten Island

NEW YORK -- The NYPD is investigating a triple stabbing in Staten Island that left a teenager dead.

Police say it happened just before 11 p.m. Monday during a fight between two groups at Barrett Lane and Richmond Terrace.

Authorities say an 18-year-old man was stabbed in the chest and died at Richmond University Hospital. A 17-year-old boy was stabbed multiple times and is in critical condition. A 22-year-old man is recovering from stab wounds to the face and chest; he is stable.

The incident started, police said, when members of the group threw rocks at the Tompkins Court home of the 22-year-old victim. The 22-year-old came out of the house with the two other victims, a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old.

An altercation ensued, with the two groups getting into a verbal dispute. The people who had been in the house were stabbed when the dispute escalated a couple of blocks from the house.

There's no word on any arrests.

There are three people, two men and a woman, in the group involved, police said. Detectives are talking to one of them and are still searching for two others.
