Police searching for man in attempted abduction of 6-year-old boy outside Yankee Stadium

CONCOURSE, Bronx (WABC) -- Police are looking for a man who tried to abduct a 6-year-old boy outside Yankee Stadium. Investigators say the boy's parents were just feet away when the incident happened.

Detectives say the man approached the 6-year-old boy, picked him up, then tried to put him in a black SUV. The child's mom and dad say they were with two of his siblings, about 15 feet behind their son when the man picked him up off the ground.

The boy's 9-year-old sister let out a loud scream, and his dad ran to wrestle his son from the arms of a man who they had never seen before.

The attempted abduction took place in the area in front of Gate 2 outside of Yankee Stadium just before 9:30 Tuesday night. The family was leaving the game early.

The boy's family says the man held him, covering his mouth, while yelling for the driver to open the door o the SUV.

The suspect is described as a white man, approximately 30 years old, 190 lbs., wearing black dress shoes, a dark sweater, and a button down shirt underneath.
