JACKSON HEIGHTS (WABC) -- A $12,000 reward is now being offered in the search for the man wanted in a shootout with police in Queens.

Police identified on Wednesday a suspect they are looking for in the case. They released a picture of a distinctive tattoo on Cristian Mosquera, 20. The suspect is a Hispanic man, who is 5 feet 4 inches and 120 pounds, with a tattoo of three stars on his right shoulder.

Officers responded to reports of trespassing in Elmhurst, Queens, just before 2 a.m. Investigators said the man fired at a sergeant and an officer when they asked him to drop his gun. The officers fired back, but did not hit the suspect before he fled.

A loaded .22 caliber handgun was recovered at the scene.
