Search for suspects after string of Lakewood home burglaries

LAKEWOOD (WABC) -- Police in Lakewood are investigating a string of home burglaries they believe are related that have netted hundreds of thousands of dollars in stolen goods.

The first incident was reported on July 19, when the resident of a home on Adelaide Place called 911 to say the house was burglarized while he or she was out of town sometime over the previous three days.

The suspect or suspects are reported to have made entry though a window located in the back of the home. Once inside, various pieces of high-end jewelry valued at more than $200,000 were taken.

Then, on July 29, a suspect or suspects entered a Martin Street home sometimes between 6:40 p.m. and 10 p.m. Forced entry was made through a sliding door located in the rear of the home, and approximately $15,000 in cash and jewelry were stolen.

That same evening, a house on West Kennedy Boulevard was accessed via a rear sliding door and approximately $8,500 in jewelry taken.

The spree continued on August 10, when there was a burglary on Malka Way.

A Cedar Row resident reported a home burglary on August 22 that netted several laptops, jewelry and approximately $2,500 in cash, and two days later, a Parkside Drive resident reported another incident.

Authorities say they are following up on several leads they hope will lead to an arrest. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact police.
