Stuyvesant Town attempted rape suspect caught after video released

STUYVESANT TOWN (WABC) -- Police have made an arrest in connection with an attempted rape in Midtown after surveillance video of the man fleeing was released.

The incident happened around 4 a.m. last Friday in Stuyvesant Town.

Authorities say 26-year-old Juan Scott followed a 20-year-old woman in to her building elevator and attacked, trying to rape her.

The victim yelled and struggled with the suspect, causing him to eventually flee the elevator.

He was caught on camera fleeing the building by shimmying down a tree.

He was subsequently taken into custody and is charged with first-degree attempted rape.
