Suspect arrested in New Year's Day hit and run in Brooklyn

Police have arrested the man they say was responsible for a deadly hit and run that happened on New Year's Day in Brooklyn.

Tedangelo Jerome, 23, was arrested Wednesday in connection with incident that happened just after 5 a.m. at Conduit Boulevard in Cypress Hills.

Authorities say a 53-year-old man was attempting to cross Conduit Boulevard at Pine Street when he was struck by a 2007 black Lexus sedan traveling north on Conduit.

The vehicle then struck a guardrail, crashing on the scene, before the driver exited the car and fled on foot.

The victim was pronounced dead at Brookdale Hospital. Jerome was identified on Tuesday.

He is now charged with leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in death and aggravated unlicensed operator. Additional charges are possible.
