GREAT NECK, N.Y. (WABC) -- Police have made an arrest in a brutally violent robbery on Long Island.
Authorities say 36-year-old Daniel Ratliff rang the doorbell of a home on Clent Road in Great Neck Plaza in June while pretending to be a flower deliveryman.
When the victim opened the door, police say Ratliff attacked him with a stun gun, struck him in the head with a glass vase and tied him up.
He allegedly made off with money, jewelry and some documents.
He is charged with robbery, burglary, grand larceny and criminal possession of a weapon.
Neighbors in the area were surprised by the attack.
"Shocked," neighbor Gretchen Smith said. "My door actually got buzzed just before I left for the beach and I didn't open the door. It's a bit of a concern because this is a pretty crime-free community. You don't have to worry about anything. You know, I walk to my place, I walk to my mom, there is absolutely nothing for me to fear."
The victim was hospitalized with facial fractures and head trauma.
