EAST HARLEM, Manhattan (WABC) -- Police are searching for a suspect wanted in connection with an attempted rape in Manhattan, and they're hoping surveillance video will lead to an arrest.

The incident happened around 7:15 p.m. Monday in the vicinity of East 102nd Street and Park Avenue in East Harlem, where authorities say the male suspect followed a 31-year-old woman into her building and attempted to rape her as she climbed the stairs to her apartment.

The victim fought off her attacker, who fled on foot.

The suspect is believed to be 18 years old, approximately 5-foot-5 and 130 pounds.
